TripAdvisor’s No 1 Hotel Ireland 2020 Harvey’s Point Donegal did it again!
“We did it again… TripAdvisor #1 Hotel in Ireland”, the absolute delight of the Harvey’s Point team who this week are the hugely proud recipient of the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice No. 1 Hotel in Ireland 2020.
The stunning Harvey’s Point on the shores of Lough Eske, Donegal Town which this year celebrates 31 years in business, have previously held the title for five consecutive years from 2013 to 2017, and 2019. Their continued commitment to the ultimate in service and standards for their loyal customer base always inspires the team and for 2020 has led to the remarkable achievement for the hotel to once again return to the number one position. A hugely exciting, and wonderful time for General Manager Niall Coffey, who joined the Team in the February and their highly committed team of hospitality professionals.
TripAdvisor, in their awards announcement indicated, “This ranking is determined from millions of reviews and opinions from the travelling public collected globally on TripAdvisor over the past year. Both the quality and quantity of reviews were taken into account for each category, and each winner delivered “remarkable service, quality, and value.”
In addition to its overall No. 1 ranking in Ireland, Harvey’s Point also features highly in other TripAdvisor categories including, Romance where it’s positioned as No1 in Ireland, and the top hotels in Europe where it ranks a very significant No. 12.
General Manager, at Harvey’s Point, Niall Coffey credited the Trip Advisor No. 1 announcement and ranking to, “our hugely dedicated team and Harvey’s Point hospitality family, each of whom plays their part in the Harvey’s Point Success story on a daily basis and the continued support and investment of owner Thomas Röggla,” Niall goes onto say, “Words can hardly express the excitement and delight that we feel, having won No. 1 Hotel in Ireland on TripAdvisor for 2020, this is truly an amazing start to the Season”.
Niall Coffey also expressed the hotel management’s heartfelt thanks to their many guests who wrote so favourably of their experiences at Harvey’s Point. “We are immensely proud of this great achievement, which encourages us to raise the bar even higher in delivering the highest possible standards of world class hotel-keeping blended with genuine Irish and Donegal hospitality.”
Hotel Ambassador Noel Cunningham said “I am so proud to be associated with Harvey’s Point after several years as General Manager. As an Ambassador for this unique Hotel and for Donegal. In these strange and challenging times there is much to do to re-establish Donegal as a key tourism destination. The Trip Advisor Award for Harvey’s Point is a wonderful accolade and made extra special because it is awarded on the strength of our valued Guests feedback. I am delighted to support Niall Coffey and his amazing Team at the Hotel as we strive to send visitor and local alike away from our Hotel with only positive feelings and a desire to return as soon as possible. We often say our Guest are No 1 and indeed that is the case as well as our Team. We look forward to another exciting year ahead”

TMR HOTEL COLLECTION TO RE-OPEN FROM END-JUNE
12 hotels and 1,400 rooms are Summer and Covid- ready
TMR Hotel Collection, one of Ireland’s largest portfolios of 4 and 5 star hotels is pleased to announce it will re-open its hotels from 29th June 2020.
Owned by Austrian investor Mr. Thomas Röggla, the 1,500 room collection comprises 13 hotels across Ireland, including: Harvey’s Point in Donegal, the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice No. 1 Hotel in Ireland and the Connemara Coast Hotel in Galway, both acquired over the past two years. The Collection also includes 2, 3 and 4 bed Resort Houses at Farnham Estate in Cavan and Mount Wolseley Estate in Carlow, both are popular golf and wedding locations.
All hotels and resort houses will re-open from 29th June 2020, with the exception of The Plaza Hotel in Tallaght which is currently undergoing a multi-million euro refurbishment and will re-open later in the year.
The hotel group is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of guests and team members in all of the communities in which it operates, whilst also ensuring an exceptional hospitality experience. Best practice health, safety and hygiene protocols are being implemented in line with World Health Organisation, the Health Service Executive and Government directives. It has also developed an industry leading protocol which combined with using hospital grade products and PPE, will assist in protecting the safety of guests and work colleagues.
Commenting, Eimear Fox, Director of TMR Hotel Collection and Davy Real Estate (its representative in Ireland), said: “We are delighted to be able to focus on re-opening our hotels and resort houses later this month and we are grateful for all the support and goodwill from our guests and team members during these incredibly challenging times. Since news of the easing of restrictions, we have seen a notable uptick in traffic to our websites. Given ongoing international flight restrictions almost all inquiries are from domestic holiday makers, with good demand in particular for our hotels in popular regional locations such as Sligo, Donegal, Cavan, Carlow and Galway.
“As Ireland’s largest hotel wedding venue group, with approximately 500 booked weddings across the group in 2020, we have been very busy rescheduling many of these dates with our brides and grooms. We look forward to a time when, pandemic-conditions permitting, we will have greater certainty regarding the timing and the size of weddings. This is essential for the couples involved and their families and for all our colleagues in the Irish hospitality sector. In the interim, we are very much summer and Covid-ready with hospitality, health and safety very much at the centre of how we operate.”
TMR will continue to monitor and update all health and safety protocols as needed to ensure that our guests, colleagues and local community keep safe and we will continue to provide information updates on our websites.
